What an interactive wall does on a stand
Most expo stands in India already have a screen. The difference is what happens when a visitor stands in front of it. A video wall loops a film and hopes someone stops. An interactive wall waits for the visitor to do something: wave, touch, step, sing or take a pledge. The content responds, the visitor stays longer, and the software writes down that a session happened.
That last part is why a brand should brief a wall instead of a bigger LED. A wall is a small piece of software running on show hardware, so it can count sessions by hour, store scores or choices, and, with consent, collect a lead. Many vendor pages in India list wall formats and rental options but say little about what the brand receives after the show. Ask for that before you ask for the size.
Two examples from Clogik's own work show the range. For Mahanagar Gas (MGL) at India Energy Week 2026 we built an interactive network wall with a pledge photobooth beside it. The Dentsu Music Wall turned touch into sound, so the wall itself became the instrument. Same idea, very different stands.
Types of interactive wall for an exhibition booth
There is no single "best" wall. The hall, the stand and the story decide. These are the formats you will see at Indian expos:
- LED wall with gesture or depth camera — the visitor plays with their body; a sensor above or below the LED reads movement. Works in bright halls because LED holds up against ambient light. Good for games, races and "reveal the product" moments.
- Touch screen or touch-frame video wall — an IR frame or touch panel turns a screen into a product explorer, configurator or lead form. Best when the visitor needs to read, choose or type.
- Projection wall with sensor — a projector and camera turn a plain surface into the play area. Covers long surfaces at a lower hardware cost, but struggles in bright, top-lit halls and needs throw distance.
- Music or sound wall — touch or motion triggers sound and light. Playful, easy to understand in a noisy hall, and good for short videos people share.
- Pledge or network wall — each visitor adds a pledge, a name or a node, and the wall grows through the day. Works well for energy, PSU, social and awareness stands.
- Wall plus a game engine — when the story needs a proper game, we build it in Unity and run it on the wall, as with the Sting Classic F1 race and the Mahindra Veero cargo mission.
Which wall fits your stand — quick comparison
| Type | Best for | Hall light | Floor depth needed | Typical data |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LED + gesture | Games, crowd-pullers | Works in bright halls | Most (body is the controller) | Sessions, play time, scores |
| Touch screen / frame | Product explorer, lead form | Works in bright halls | Least (arm's length) | Taps, choices, opt-in leads |
| Projection + sensor | Long surfaces, lower hardware cost | Needs dimmer area | Throw distance plus play zone | Sessions, interactions |
| Music / sound wall | Playful, shareable moment | Either | Moderate | Sessions, recordings if opted in |
| Pledge / network wall | Awareness, PSU, energy stands | Either (usually LED) | Moderate, plus a pledge kiosk | Pledges, names, photo keeps |
Space: plan the play zone and the queue
The render shows the wall. The hall manager sees the queue. A wall that pulls a crowd into the aisle will be stopped, so plan three zones on the stand drawing:
- The wall — width and height of the active surface, plus the frame or truss behind it.
- The play zone — clear floor in front of the wall where one or two people play. Gesture walls need the most depth because the sensor has to see a whole person; touch walls need the least.
- The queue and watchers — inside your stand line, not on the aisle. Watchers are part of the show; give them somewhere to stand.
Height is the other silent limit. Organisers cap stand height and ask for approval above it. As one example, the 2025 SEMICON India exhibitor manual at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi allowed stands up to 12 ft without structural approval. Check the manual for your show, then measure clear height at the install point on recce, not from the brochure.
Power: order it in kW before the deadline
An interactive booth is an electrical product first. LED panels, the wall PC, sensors, a printer and the stand lights all draw from the same supply. Indian organisers usually ask exhibitors to declare connected load in kW on a power order form by a set date, often with a surcharge after it. Shell stands come with a small default allowance; the SEMICON India 2025 manual, for instance, gave shell stands single-phase 1 kW per 9 sq m, which is meant for stall lighting, not an LED wall.
- Take the load from the LED and PC spec sheets and add the stand lighting; order with headroom.
- Ask whether three-phase is available if the LED is large.
- Check when power comes on and goes off. Many halls switch power on only on the morning of the show and cut it at close, so content tests on build-up night may need a written exception.
- Keep the wall on its own circuit, away from catering or fabrication tools, and use a UPS for the PC.
Network: assume hall Wi-Fi will fail
The game itself should run offline on the wall PC. The internet is needed for live dashboards, WhatsApp or email sends, and syncing leads to the brand's CRM. Hall Wi-Fi is shared by thousands of phones, so plan a dedicated 4G/5G router with a wired cable to the wall PC, and let the software queue sends if the link drops. Test on the same router you will use on show day, not on office broadband.
Data: what the brand should get on Monday
A wall that only "looked great" is hard to renew. Agree the report before you sign the scope:
- Sessions by hour and by day, so the team knows when the stand was busy.
- Average play time, completion rate, scores or choices made in the game.
- Opt-in leads (form or badge scan) with consent text, kept apart from anonymous sessions.
- Downtime and issues logged honestly, not smoothed over in the wrap deck.
Personal data collected at the wall falls under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, so show a clear consent line before collecting a phone number or email. If the stand also needs badge scans or check-in, connect the wall to event registration so both sit in one report. For how wall data differs from photobooth shares, read interactive wall vs photobooth when you need data.
Pre-show checklist for an interactive booth wall
- Story and wall type agreed with the brand (game, explorer, pledge, music).
- Hall manual read: height limit, power form deadline, build-up and dismantle times.
- Recce done: clear height, power drop location, sightlines from the main aisle.
- Stand drawing shows wall, play zone and queue inside the stand line.
- Power ordered in kW with headroom; UPS for the PC.
- Dedicated router plus wired link; offline mode tested.
- Consent text and data fields signed off by the brand.
- Report format agreed: what lands in the client's inbox after the show.
- Operator on the stand for peak hours, with a backup plan if the LED cannot hang.
How Clogik builds booth walls (white-label for agencies)
Clogik is an experiential technology partner, not a hardware rental desk. We write the content and software, integrate the sensors, run the wall on the floor and hand over the data. For agencies we work white-label: you keep the client and the billing, we build and run under your name. Our exhibition tech page shows how the wall sits with recce, lead capture and reporting, and the wall comparison page covers custom builds versus packaged platforms. Recent stand work includes MGL at India Energy Week, BYD's 3D GIF photobooth at Auto Expo and three stalls for Bosch at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. Sales, support and tech are on call 24×7.

What is an interactive wall on an exhibition booth?
A screen or projected surface that reacts to visitors through gesture, touch, motion or sound and logs every session, so the brand gets engagement data after the show.
Which type of interactive wall suits an expo stand in India?
LED with gesture for bright halls and crowds, touch for product explorers and lead forms, projection for darker halls and long surfaces, music walls for a playful moment.
How much space does an interactive wall need on a stand?
The wall, a play zone in front of it and a queue inside the stand line. Gesture walls need more depth than touch walls. Measure clear height on recce.
How much power does an interactive booth wall need?
Take the load from the LED and PC spec sheets and order it in kW from the organiser before the deadline. Shell-stand default power is meant for lighting.
Does an interactive wall need internet at the expo?
The game can run offline. Dashboards, sends and lead sync need a link, so use a dedicated 4G/5G router wired to the wall PC.
What data can an interactive wall capture?
Sessions by hour, play time, scores or choices, and opt-in leads collected with consent under the DPDP Act, 2023.
Can an agency white-label Clogik's interactive wall?
Yes. You keep the client and billing; we build, run and report under your brand, with 24×7 support.
