Two jobs, not two names for the same kit
A photobooth is a capture-and-share station: pose, print or digital send, social loop. It is good at volume of images. An interactive wall is a playable LED or projection surface—gesture games, music walls, quizzes—where the unit of value is a session, not a JPEG. GoKapture-type mills and custom wall builders both show up in Indian RFPs. They are not substitutes. Pretending they are is how a wrap invents footfall from a photo count.
Clogik does not rank photobooth companies, and we do not sell headset theatre as the lead offer. This page is a buyer-job split: shares versus session data. Many programmes use both on the same floor. Brief them as two lines with two reports.
What “data” means on Monday
Shares: how many prints or digital sends left the booth. Useful for social proof. Session data: how many people played, optional dwell, which mechanic, which hours, optional QR or form opt-in. That is what ops can open while the mall weekend or expo day is still live. Field reporting then carries issues and honest downtime—not a folder of unlabelled booth photos.
Side-by-side: wall vs photobooth
| Area | Photobooth | Interactive wall (Clogik) |
|---|---|---|
| Primary job | Capture-and-share: pose, print, social send | Playable surface with a session log the agency can open live |
| Unit of value | JPEG / print / story | Play, completion, optional dwell or lead |
| Monday artefact | ZIP of images, share count | Dashboard or export of sessions; downtime stated if a sensor was down |
| Typical fit | Red carpet, takeaway, influencer loop | Mall atrium, expo stand, brand room that needs dwell and a mechanic |
| AR/VR honesty | Camera overlay is not a headset park | Gesture, touch, or camera walls—not headset theatre as the lead offer |
| When it is the better buy | The brief is volume of images | The brief is engagement the brand can defend without inventing footfall |
When agencies need the wall, not only the booth
Choose a photobooth when the brand wants a takeaway and a social asset. Choose a wall when they want people to stop in the aisle, play, and leave a count. If the RFP says “AR/VR” and means a camera overlay on a print, that is still a booth job. If it means a gesture game on LED, that is interactive wall work. Headset-only booths are a third category—catalog spectacle, not Clogik’s lead stack.
Expo stands add a further test. A booth that only prints photos cannot tell the brand whether the stand worked. A wall that logs sessions, paired with stand recce and optional event registration, gives the account team a Monday conversation: plays, hours, optional badge scans. See exhibition tech for how that sits on the hall floor. Recce still comes first: wrong power or height kills both the printer and the LED.
Same floor, two reports
If you run both, do not merge the numbers. Photobooth shares are not wall sessions. Do not add them into one “engagement” figure the brand cannot audit. Clogik reports what the wall software counted. We do not invent client scale or inflate the aisle from a photo ZIP.
How this sits on Clogik’s stack
The wedge is recce → registration → interactive + data → field reporting. The wall is the interactive + data layer. Photobooth mills remain the right hire for share volume. Packaged wall consoles versus custom Clogik builds are a separate comparison—use the factual interactive wall comparison when the job is a playable surface, not a print station.
Brief in one paragraph: venue type, whether Monday needs sessions or shares (or both), LED versus projection if a wall, and whether opt-in is required. Do not attach a headcount you cannot defend. If you only need Instagram, buy the booth. If you need a dashboard, buy the wall.
Takeaway
Match the product to the artefact. Shares come from a photobooth. Session data comes from a playable wall. Use both when the floor needs a takeaway and a mechanic—just do not brief them as one kit or one number.
Need a wall with a session log?
Share venue type, whether Monday needs data or only shares, and LED versus projection.
WhatsApp Clogik ↗Frequently asked questions
How is an interactive wall different from a photobooth?
A photobooth is a capture-and-share station. An interactive wall is a playable LED or projection surface with games or content and a session log. Many briefs use both; they are not the same product.
When should an agency choose a photobooth?
When the unit of value is an image: pose, print or digital send, social loop. Photobooth mills are the right fit for red-carpet volume and takeaways.
When should an agency choose an interactive wall?
When the brand needs dwell, a mechanic people watch from the aisle, and session data ops can open while the install is live—not only a ZIP of photos on Monday.
Can a floor use both a wall and a photobooth?
Yes. Treat them as two products with two reports: shares from the booth, sessions from the wall.
Does Clogik sell photobooths as the lead offer?
No. Clogik is an experiential technology partner: recce, registration, playable walls with session data, and field reporting. Photobooth volume is a different supplier category.
