Exhibition stall technology ideas that pull visitors and leads

Most stalls compete on size and lighting. The ones people remember give visitors something to do. Here are the technology formats that work on Indian expo floors, what each needs, and how to measure it.

Start with what the stall must achieve

Before choosing technology, decide the one job the stall has: collect qualified leads, explain a complex product, launch something new or simply be the busiest stand in the hall. Each goal points to a different format, and the wrong one wastes budget on spectacle nobody remembers.

1. Interactive wall

A touch or gesture wall turns the back wall into a game or explorer. It handles several visitors at once and draws people in from the aisle. Best for: busy halls and products with a map, network or range to explore. Needs: a wall-sized LED or projection, a sensor and stable power. More on interactive walls.

2. Booth games with a leaderboard

A one- to two-minute branded game (racing, quiz, reaction, sports) with a visible leaderboard keeps a crowd around the stand and creates a natural moment to capture details. Needs: a large screen, queue space and a prize plan. See event games.

3. AI photobooth

An AI portrait, moving GIF or word-art print gives each visitor something personal to share, and the booth asks for details before delivering it. Needs: about 2 × 2 m, power and network. See AI photobooth.

4. VR and 3D product experiences

A VR moment or a walk-in 3D product experience suits complex or large products that can't come to the hall. Headsets suit a hero moment with a managed queue; large-screen 3D reaches more people per hour. See AR & VR experiences.

5. Pledge and wish booths

A pledge or wish booth (photo in, certificate or card out) works well for sustainability, safety and awareness messages and is often the most shared moment on the stall.

6. Holograms and spectacle displays

Hologram fans and display boxes draw attention but rarely capture data on their own. If you use one, pair it with a QR form or a game so the attention turns into leads.

7. Lead capture and registration

Whatever draws the crowd, a stand QR form and a staff app that works offline turn attention into follow-up. See exhibitor lead capture, and event registration if you also run the gate.

Choosing by stand size

  • Small stands (9–18 sq m): one format, usually an AI photobooth or a compact game, plus lead capture.
  • Mid-size stands: a wall or game to draw people in and a photobooth or demo zone to convert them.
  • Pavilions: a hero experience (VR or 3D), a wall, and registration at the pavilion entrance.

Power, network and recce

Most stall tech failures come from power, ceiling height and hall networks, not the content. Recce the stand before graphics print, ask the organiser for dedicated power and LAN, and plan an offline fallback. Our exhibition tech checklist covers load-in step by step.

Measuring booth engagement

Count what the brand can act on: visitors who played or posed, time spent, leads with consent, and leads by product interest. Software-led formats record all of this automatically; ask for a live dashboard during the show, not a report a week later.

Mistakes that waste a stall budget

  • Buying spectacle with no way to capture who stopped.
  • Choosing a format that needs more space than the stand has, so the queue blocks the aisle.
  • Locking graphics before checking power and ceiling height.
  • Running a game or photobooth without a staff member to invite people in.
  • Waiting until after the show to look at the numbers.

Frequently asked questions

What technology attracts the most visitors to an exhibition stall?

Formats people can take part in, such as interactive walls, short games with a leaderboard and AI photobooths, usually draw more visitors than passive screens, because they give a reason to stop and stay.

Which stall technology is best for lead generation?

Any engaging format paired with lead capture: a game or photobooth that asks for consented details before the reward, plus a staff app for conversations.

How much space does booth technology need?

An AI photobooth needs about 2 × 2 m; a game needs screen space plus a queue; a wall needs the back wall and viewing distance. Confirm during recce.

Do holograms work for expo stands?

They attract attention but don't capture data on their own. Pair them with a QR form or a game.

When should we book stall technology?

As soon as stand size and show dates are confirmed, ideally before graphics and fabrication are final, so power and space fit the plan.
